Joshua Peters, your Twin Cities Hypnotist, and today's topic is, "Who's really in control here?"
Yesterday, I was in my office and as I'm finishing up the second to last client of the day, I see a message from my final client, who has just canceled all of his sessions.
Now, this is a new client, and when that happens, part of it really just triggers me. It triggers me and makes me wonder what's wrong with me? Why is this person canceling their sessions? Isn't it going to be worth it to them?
The reality is that, I know that my service is valuable. It empowers people, it changes people's lives.
So who's really in control here? Is the client in control? Able to just cancel his or her sessions at will? Am I in control here? Being able to choose the decisions that I make, the way that I look at myself?
This client, who canceled his sessions, wanted to quit smoking. I find that the clients that most often cancel their suggestions are smokers who are really not ready to quit. They might think that they are the ones consciously canceling those sessions, but the reality is that it's not their conscious mind, it's their subconscious mind. That part of them that takes them either towards pleasure, or away from pain. In this case, their subconscious mind is clearly trying to protect them. It's like, "Whoa. Wait a minute here. We can't quit doing this thing. This is what I do to relax. This is what I do to relieve stress. This is what I do to take a break. Who am I even going to be, if we don't have that habit?"
And so he cancels his sessions. And it triggers me and all that stuff that I just told you about. But I learned a lesson. It's really my responsibility to ensure that the clients that I take on, the people that I chose to empower, are ready for their change.
Like this client who canceled his sessions. He's clearly not ready.
I always do a free phone call or an in-person consultation. And this client said all the right things. He answered all the right questions in all the right ways. He has a young child he wants to be around for. He wants to really make his health better.
But he told me one thing. When I asked him, on a scale from one to ten, how committed was he to quitting, he was between a seven and an eight. If a client's not at an eight for smoking cessation, I'm not going to take them. They just aren't ready. And I should have used my intuition in that moment to tell him, "Thanks but no thanks. Call me back when you're at an eight."
So the truth is, I determine if you're ready. You're applying to become a client. And it's up to me to determine if that client is actually ready to make the change. Without you being ready to make the change, it's not going to happen.
So who's really in control here? Ultimately your subconscious mind is in control. With hypnosis we're able to talk to that subconscious mind and allow it to get in alignment with your conscious mind, so you can have an amazing, powerful, peaceful, happy life. The life that you're looking for.

The last time we talked, we discussed the subconscious mind versus the conscious mind. Today, we'll learn how the subconscious mind creates these rules or beliefs.
At my last post I talked about how we have a 90% subconscious, 10% conscious, and between that, is the critical factor, a filter that only allows in the reality that matches up to your subconscious beliefs. The question is, how do these subconscious beliefs get created, or who's teaching the children to drive? 'Cause really, that's who the subconscious mind is. It is a child.
There are five ways that you can create a subconscious rule or belief. I'll go over these five ways and give a little bit of demonstrations of how they work based on how my life has gone.
When I learned that the easiest way to make transformation, to make positive, powerful change in your life, to change the subconscious mind is through hypnosis, I decided I wanted to fully explore it. Hypnosis allows you to bypass this critical factor, and speak directly to the subconscious mind to give it exactly what you choose to have it believe, rather than just creating something randomly like that child driving the car, and that never works out well.
There you go. The five ways that you can create a subconscious rule or belief about life.
